I've been trying for days to back up my MacBook Pro, Ventura 13.5 but it keeps going to sleep. I have not been able to find the control to prevent the HD from sleeping while I'm doing the backup. Apple instructs to look for Energy Saver in the left hand menu under SysPrefs, but there isn't such an item. I've tried Battery, as advised in other posts, but there is nothing about hard disk even in the Options.

Thanks, Old Toad. I remember seeing that on my older Macs, but, as mentioned above, Energy Saver is not an option. "energy" brings up Battery.
Does this mean I cannot control whether the hard disk can be put to sleep on my version of MacBook Pro? The HD is always running?
If it's newer that 2012 MacBook Pros will have a SSD drive and there are no moving parts to run. So the setting we've mentioned doesn't sleep the computer.
