Quick Time has always been my favourite video player. After installing Sonoma, it does not work anymore. Every time I open a video with it, the Mac is stuck and there is no way to unblock it, it is simply impossible to close the app.
Am I the only one who is experiencing this issue and how can I solve it (apart from using another player)?

I fixed it now on my MacBook pro.
Open QuickTime go to quicktime menu, select service settings, mine did not have ticks only little blue lines so I selected - restore defaults button and now all is okay no more crashing or quicktime problems.
I just downloaded IINA. I saw it recommended as an alternative for Quickplayer. I read lots of good reviews on it. So I’ll be using it instead of Quickplayer.
I have installed IINA to replace QuickTime - it's free and works fine!
Hope QT problem will be fixed soon.

Same problem here with a MacBook Pro 16" M1 Max. After playing a video in QuickTime my Mac became freezed and I have reboot!
Could you please share what you did to fix this issue?
I use After Effects and Premiere software to edit my videos. Every time after playing through Kickplayer, my Macbook crashes and I have to restart it by holding the button.
Please is there a fix for this. Quicktime is crashing my M1 16inch Macbook pro 😤

Try sim001uk's solution. It works. Go to Services Settings on Quicktime, click Restore Defaults.
It would be nice, but I don't have any menubar...when I open Quick Time it just freezes instantly...unbelievable...
I had this problem for some time with any videos I opened. I have Sonoma 14.5 and everything has been working fine with this update.
On my Macbook (M1) this issue is not present, but my Studio (M1) is dead (I mean Quick Time is dead). No updates solved it...
