Logic Pro X audio cuts out on playback, bounce, recording after upgrade to Sonoma

Having issues after upgrading to Sonoma. Whenever I play a project that has about 50 tracks, the audio just cuts out for no reason during playback, recording, bouncing. Goes silent with a little click. Never had this issue before, even with as much or more tracks. Projects with smaller track numbers (5-10) do not have this issue.

I've tried disabling all plugins, freezing multiple tracks still doesn't affect the 50 track project audio cutout issue, this sucks please help!

Specs: Mac Studio 2022 with Apple M1 Max chip, 64 GB ram, general settings applied, 256 buffer size (tried changing)

UPDATE: Worked with AppleCare Pro Apps team to find the issue. Turns out it was the Waves plugin suite. When I transferred everything from my iMac Pro to my Mac Studio, I was going through all the various plugin installers as you have to do to reauthorize, update, etc... I had v14 of several plugins on Waves and didn't realize I had updated those to v15 in this process simply by going through the prompts quickly in Waves Central. v15 plugins are a paid upgrade, so it effectively installed these as demo versions, which ducks audio every 10 seconds or so. This ALSO caused issues with other plugins on the same track or master bus, so it looked like all my 3rd party plugins were having issues but really, it was just that they didn't play well with Waves plugins in demo mode. Once I paid the subscription fee to Waves (annoying....), it resolved all playback issues in Logic Pro and CPU overload issues in Pro Tools.

Sucks, but now I have a working machine again. So at least there's that.

I’m having the same issue, when I export the project, the parts of the project that cut out during playback also aren’t bouncing properly. (The bounced track cuts to no sound at the same points). This issue only occurred after updated to Sonoma.

Super disappointing because this is happening on every project so am currently unable to work on this machine.

My machine is a 13’ M1 MacBook.

I can't be sure if this is the actual fix for everyone since this still happened to me with the latest version of Sonoma and Logic Pro 11, but check your license status for any purchased plugins/instruments you use. For me, it was my installation of Ozone 9 Elements. I registered it again and the audio drop-outs stopped. It makes sense for something like this that does mastering since they's need a way to control unlicensed installations.

Hey guys, OK I had the same problem. Also on Sonoma, on a Macbook Pro M3, Logic Pro 11. This issues happened on old sessions that I had to re-open for remix purposes. News sessions weren't concerned. After reading your comments I tried to de-activate Ozone 9 on my old session Mix Bus. The problem disappeared. So I guessed that the problem is linked to Izotope and Sonoma. I then tried to use Ozone 10 (I did the upgrade after having bought the M3). And it worked just fine! So, I had to remaster my session with Ozone 10, but at last, everything plays smoothly now! What a relief! Now let's get back to work!

Having the same issue. Using a new Mac Studio M2 Max with 64gb ram + Sonoma. Using any software within Kontakt 7, every so often it CLICKS and the audio drops. If I keep trying to play a note, it'll happen a few times in a row, then go back to normal; This happens every 3-5 minutes.

Was using a 2017 iMac before with 32gb and no issues like this ever happened. Thought spending the $4k to upgrade was going to improve my workflow...

Updating to Sequoia tonight in hopes of it helping. Utterly ridiculous!

I have audio cuts where it’s a quick pop, silence and then continues fine for about 25 seconds

This happens with just two single tracks: a 2 channel line in from a synth (no plugin) and a midi drum set using drum designer.

Sonoma, m2 pro, Scarlett gen 3, 1024 buffer

its been a minute but I believe it’s just the input monitoring and I know the drums don’t have to be actively playing. This starts immediately before any other plug ins
