HomeKit presence not working for residents of household on IOS 17

HomeKit presence not working for residents of household on IOS 17. Ever since my family updated to IOS 17 my automations in HomeKit based on presence have stopped working. Seems to be only for residents of the home. Myself as the home owner it works fine. I have checked all the relevant settings and permissions on their phones and it’s all correct. I delete and re-add them to the home and it works for a day or two then stops working again. It just constantly thinks they are home

Hello mooreman1991,

Be sure to have the affected users try restarting all of the following, as it may help to resolve that type of issue:

  • iOS device(s)
  • all Home hubs
  • all HomeKit accessories
  • all networking equipment (modem/router/etc.)

Also ensure the latest iOS 17 update is installed to confirm the latest fixes are applied. Currently the latest version is iOS 17.0.3: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If the devices have any security software, VPNs or profiles then it may help to uninstall them as these could affect functionality in some instances. These are usually located in Settings > General > VPN & Device Management.

If nothing else has helped you may also explore deleting and re-creating the automations.

Cheers.
