I am trying to reset my password on my Mac OS X version 10.6.8. Startup disk Macintosh HD.
I forgot my previous password as I have not use this computer in over two years and trying to retrieve files. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
Earlier Mac models
You need to boot from that Mac's original, grey, System Install DVD.
At the OS X Utilities screen, select the Utilities menu > Terminal, and type
resetpassword
... followed by the Return or Enter key.
