Safari freezing after - This webpage and one other page are not responding.

I am having an issue with Safari when I get this prompt:

This webpage and one other

page are not responding. To visit

the selected page, the page

"https://webpageaddress.com" must be force

reloaded. Do you want to visit the

selected page?

Force reloading might lose information

you've entered.

This can happen on multiple websites, but only an issue when this kind of prompt comes up.

After I click on Visit Page, Safari basically freezes up and I believe even all internet activity freezes up - even Google Drive and DropBox will show as not connected.

I checked Activity Viewer during this time and these processes are using very high CPU:

  • Safari
  • kernel_task
  • Safari Networking

The only way to continue working is to force quit Safari and re-open it. Sometimes this results in losing which web pages and tabs I had open even though Safari always opens up with the tabs from last session.

This is incredibly frustrating for me and time consuming.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before or has an idea for troubleshooting or a fix.

Thanks.
