iPadOS 17 Automation test run removed?

Has the ability to test run an automation been removed from iPadOS 17?

There used to be a Play icon to run an automation to see if it would run with no errors in iPadOS 16, but it is no longer there. The Play icon still exists on my iPhone running iOS 17, so this seems to be an iPadOS only change.

Please help me find a way to test run my automations on my iPad again.

If you have identified a missing feature or consistent bug, you can submit a bug report to Apple using the Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

When submitting your report, ensure that you include model details of your iPad and the installed version of iPadOS within the body of your report. Don't rely upon the pick-list - as this rarely includes the most recent models or OS releases.

You might also consider directly contacting Apple Support - who may be able to escalate the issue. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

It is entirely your choice to try - or not - as you see fit.

Contributors here can only offer best advice as to how you might escalate a new issue with Apple. You are not the first - and is unlikely to be the last - to identify a new problem that was not detected during beta testing. Yours is the first, that I have seen, that identifies this very specific problem.

Your prior issue is not necessarily an indicator of whether or not your current difficulty will qualify for assistance. I would only add at this point that your issue is not with the hardware - but is instead a potential issue with an early public/production release of a new major version of iPadOS. Issues and bugs will be discovered - and likely fixed as reports are fed-back to Apple.

If nobody escalates an issue, nobody will be inclined to fix it.

As I said, I did inform Apple through the feedback link you provided, and thank you for that.

If you yourself own an iPad, you could communicate with Apple Support about the issue since it is an OS specific issue as you pointed out. In fact, if it is as you say, I doubt you even need to have an iPad to point it out to them.

If you have had positive experiences with them, that should engender you to do so, just as my negative experience provides the opposite impetus.
