I'm running an iMac Pro with MacOS 13.5.2 and I can't install macOS Sonoma. It starts downloading it from the Software Update area of System Settings but after a chunk of the 12.86 GB I get an error message that says "Installation failed - an error occurred while installing the selected updates."

If that doesn't work, try upgrading in Safe Mode,

There were four different 2017 iMac models.
A standard 21.5" model that tops out at Ventura.
A standard 21.5" Retina model that tops out at Ventura.
A standard 27" Retina model that tops out at Ventura.
A 27" iMac Pro model that can can be upgraded to Sonoma.
Please verify exactly which 2017 iMac model you have.

It seems to be progressing further this time - running the 14.0 update in Software Update.
When I try to just update it only needs to download 5.06 GB but when trying this method I quickly get this message:
"macOS count not be downloaded. Make sure you're connected to the internet and try again, or contact Apple support for assistance."
The download stopped on my MacBook Pro too, Ventura 14.5
I am on MacOS Big Sur and go to the “about this max section and from there to software update. I keep trying to update MacOS Sonoma only to after downloading 13 GB of storage being met with an installation application for Sonoma. Is this a glitch or something because this is really annoying
