Podcast automatically plays every time I get in the truck, even if app is closed.

How can I stop Podcasts from automatically starting or restarting when I get in my truck. 2022 GMC Sierra. This is so maddening. If the app is on pause, when I get back in it starts back playing. Even if I swipe up and close out the app, somehow it will restart automatically. It has a mind of it's own. There should be a way to stop this. I have searched and all I see is other posts complaining about this, but no real solutions. I have seen many older posts asking about this same issue, but didn't see anything new. Anyone know of a new option?

I just figured this out. Having the same issue. Every time i picked up my phone in the car the podcast i previously listened to would start playing AGAIN. For me, I was using Amazon music app. Go to Settings, then chose Car Mode and there is an actual Start Car Mode Automatically button. I turned that off. And Voila! Done with that BS.

I don’t know legacy and what that even refers to, it happens even when not plugged in. Bluetooth picks it up automatically and it starts playing. Seems to me, maybe I’m too logical, but if you are not playing the app at the time you enter your vehicle it should not automatically START playing when you get in your vehicle. I can understand if you were listening on your phone and you get in how the vehicle would pick it up, but not if you are NOT playing it or listening to it. Clearly not right.

It will still play, even with bluetooth. In my experience it will continue to play podcasts from where it left off, even if they were marked as played because they were finished elsewhere. My hypothesis is that the car stores some part of the podcast/music and as soon as the device connects, triggers something saying "this is the same device start playing." I haven't played around with it a lot because while it's an inconvenience, it's not anything I've felt required a time suck to investigate.
