Why did noise cancellation on AirPods Pro (2nd generation) get significantly worse after iOS 17 update (firmware update to 6A301)?

After I updated my iPhone 13 to iOS 17 my AirPods pro downloaded a new firmware. I noticed that I can hear I lot more noise than I used to with noise cancellation mode. For example, before the update I didn't hear any music played at the gym from local speakers, now I can hear the song across the whole gym, or while travelling by tram I didn't hear the tram at all, but now I can hear it a lot and I can even hear people talking. The difference between Turn Off and Noise cancellation is close to zero. I keep my AirPods clean so dust is not a problem and they are also just 3 weeks old.

If your AirPods are not working as expected, try to reset them. Resetting can often help resolve unexpected behaviors.

"Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
Wait 30 seconds.
Open the lid of your charging case, and put your AirPods in your ears.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Or go to Settings > [your AirPods].

If your AirPods appear there as connected, tap the More Info button next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm.
If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.

5. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.

6. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps on your device's screen." How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro
