Does anyone know if MacOS 10.15 Catalina has RAW support for the Nikon Z5 camera? I see it listed for MacOS Monterey, but can't find a list of cameras supported by Catalina.

Hold down the Option key and select the ➙ System Information menu.
In the sidebar of the Information window go to Software/RAW Support. If the Nikon Z5 is supported it will be listed.
The Z5 is supported in Ventura but I don't know about earlier systems:
Your System Information will let you know if it's supported or not.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Old Toad. I figured that out shortly after I made the post. My Nikon Z5 is listed as supported in MacOS Catalina. However, when I import NEF-JPEG pairs into Photos, I can't make the RAW file the Master. I also can't view the RAW File in Preview. The JPEG's can be viewed.

Yes, Nikon has two versions of NEF files that it can record. One is us Lossless compressed while the other is Compressed. The former preserves all the original data when compressed. There is no option for an un-compressed NEF file.
Does the Nikon have different types of RAW photos? Some cameras do have two and from what I've heard both are not always compatible.
So you have to use the Compressed NEF? You can't select the "lossless"?
There is no option for a non-compressed NEF. I choose "Lossless compressed" and not just "Compressed. Those are the only options.
