apple tv 4k and amazon prime sound problem - no surround sound on some programs

Technically ‘straight’ is passthrough (input channels same as output channels), and ‘standard’ can be upmixing channels for stereo sources [5.1 or higher would be untouched]. The difference should be your AVR settings, not some streaming app.

I have an audio file I have to home theater/2 channel systems in the cost more than a brand new car I’m not gonna get into brand-name’s. It’s a relevant. I am having the same issue with AppleTV on prime video. It defaults to to channel and it will not default anything to surroundsound unless I erase all the data on the Apple TV and do an update and pull the HDMI cable out and pull it back in and then it’ll work for a little while and then it’ll stop working and it’ll go back to to channel again it’s the most annoying thing in the world, I can’t watch anything on prime video. The surroundsound does not work whatsoever. I tried deleting the app reinstalling the app. I got it to work on my one of my surround sound systems. They’re both the same brand with different amplifiers and it’s working in one room and it’s the same things happening in the other room. Both of the Apple TV is our third GEN and they’re brand new at this prime video app sucks don’t use prime video. If you’re getting having this problem, try another app it’s too bad there’s a lot of good shows on prime video but someone should fix this or they should look into AppleTV fixing the system from not updating the bugs and contacting the app manufacturers and tell him to fix the app.
