AirPods mute/unmute from AirPod stem question

Will the new mute/unmute using the stem of the AirPods gonna replace the hang up function? I use them for answer and hang up calls with a single click and don’t want it replaced

This stem mute function is really awkward. I miss the double tap, single tap choices. I can never seem to mute the call via the stem.
