Airpods Max mute-unmute function

Will Apple launch a physical enabled mute-unmute function this year for the Airpods max? There are many professionals like myself who would benefit from this feature for work. It defeats the purpose of having 500$ bluetooth headphones if you can’t walk around with them connected to a computer and be in control.
