IOS 17 killed my iPhone 11. Took it in for service with the black screen of death and was told it unrepairable. I'm furious I have effectively been forced into buying a new phone.

They have to care first. Their concern is limited to snowflakes on the weather app

It is very unlikely that a software upgrade would cause a sudden and catastrophic hardware failure. What was the detailed diagnosis after inspection?

Similar, had an iphone 15 for about 3 months then wouldn't turn back on after a reboot - Apple technician said it was a hardware/software failure combo but there isn't any external damage on the phone

They did a full replacement of the logic board and some other internal components to get it working again
