Apple Watch Ultra 2 does not pair with iPhone11 Pro Max with iOS 16.7

I have watch Ultra 1 paired to iPhone X and it will not update to watchOS 10 unless phone is on IOS17.

Models iPhone X and earlier are now not supported for IOS17.

What this means is owners of these non-supported phones will need to replace in order pair with Apple WatchOS 10.

If an IP X cannot connect with a Ultra 2 that is beyond unacceptable! And I thought it was bad when I realized that IP 12 could not connect with Watch Gen 1. But X to Ultra 2 is unacceptable.

whatOS10 requires an iphone with ios17

just got the new ultra2 today. Turns out it won't even pair with my iphone X which is working great. Yeah, now I have the ultra 2 sitting there and I can't do anything with it.

My iPhone 14 PRO required iOS 17 to pair with Ultra 2! Pretty insane yes, but hey thats Apple! SO I spend like an hour to update the phone to 16.7 and then to 17 before I could try my new watch.

More of apple’s garbage. I too just spent $900 on an ultra watch and it won’t pair with my IPhone 12 Pro Max. I don’t want the new iOS.

Return for refund or replace your iPhone X with a newer model that can update to IOS17+.

Apple's greedy way of forcing buyers to upgrade and replace devices no longer supported.

I'm totally with you St_St. I was so excited to open up my new Ultra2 and pair it with my phone before a run and of course I had the same issue. After running software update and updating to 16.7.1 I believe it still didn't work, I went back to software update again and low on the screen was an option to upgrade to IOS 17.0.1. It's installing now and I'm sure that will fix the issue.

Have you updated to latest Watch OS and iOS on the phone? I needed to do that even on my IP 14 Pro. But that is another issue than the brightness this topic is about.
