save as pdf stopped working after updating to Ventura13.6

I could print to PDF from emails but some of them would be too large for the paper. I got around that by using the Redirect button in the toolbar and then printing that to PDF.

First give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following; 

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts 

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Then, if still a problem try the Redirect approach.

Then have a few suggestions ;

1 - Get Support Choose a product and we’ll find you the best solution.Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues . 

2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue 

As additional info....I am running 13.6 on a 2021 M1 iMac and print to PDF is working both from an email as well as printing various other docs. That said, I'm guessing this isn't a bug but something amiss with the OP's computer. Agree that booting into safemode is a good idea as well as perhaps logging into a different admin account and trying it there as a test.

What application is this? This does not look like a normal Print nor Save dialog... it looks like you are using some application that has customized those dialogs and then something went wrong.

For one thing, I have never ever seen a work like "destination" in this context...

Running Ventura 13.6 just updated today

From Mail Application and use Save As presents as in first image

Same Application >> Export and get .pdf file >> 2nd image

Kind of looks like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge or some other Chromium based Browser ?

I hope that is not a bug introduced with 13.6. I have yet to update, so I cannot test.

Try restarting in Safe Mode. Does Save as PDF work there?

Restart normally. Does the problem reappear?

I believe the OP is talking about the Save as PDF option within the print dialog…

In Ventura 13.6, with a message selected in Apple Mail, the File menu : Print… : PDF : Save as PDF works perfectly for me and my test was comprised of six pages of email content.
