We recently upgraded our iCloud storage and are attempting to upload 20 years of pictures (34,403) to a iCloud. This has taken 3-4 days so far and only 5,000 have synced. Any suggestions to assist the upload?

Time to Upload Photos:
the time would all depend on the Data Transfer Rase, among with the capacity of all of these files together. What device are yu uploading from. What type fo connection are you using? If you are using a computer and WiFi then try using Ethernet, instead. If you are using iPhone, then expect it to t take quite some time.
