Mail move to folder suggestions stopped after ios 17 update

Mail stopped automatically making folder suggestions when I am moving email. This happened after updating to iOS 17 on my iPhone 13.

Mail disappearing from subfolders Hello Please can someone assist me with regards to Mail. I have noticed that emails that I moved to various subfolders soon disappear and I cannot understand the reason why. I would like guidance as to how I stop this happening. For reference I have the iPhone 12 with the latest IOS 16.1.2. This issue however has been ongoing for a long time. Bizarrely though if I open the Microsoft Outlook app (which I also have on the iphone) the subfolders containing email show up. I much prefer to use the Mail app though, hence why I’d like to find the solution to my problem. Thank you.

Email Inbox Folder Suggestions In the past, when on my i-phone whenever I want to move an email from my inbox to a specific folder I selected an email (or a group of emails) chose the "move" option to place them in their usual folder, the mail application would recommended the most likely folder where all other emails from that sender were stored. The E-Mail App has stopped making these folder suggestions. As a result, I have to choose the "move message" option and manually scroll to locate the folder I want to file them in. This is a massive pain as I have tons of folders to scroll through. I can see from other comments that others encountered this issue but I can't see if it was ever solved , or why the mail app is no longer providing folder suggestions? This change has significantly increased the inconvenience of organising emails- and was a well used feature - i would love it back again!

iPhone Mail Filing Suggestions Previously when I would select an email (or a batch of emails from the same sender, such as order confirmations from the same vendor) and tap “move” to file them in the folder those emails normally go to, the mail app used to reliably suggest the file that all other emails from that sender were in. Recently, it’s stopped suggesting those folders for the most part and has started suggesting the “Important” folder as the place to file most emails, which means I have to tap the “move message” option and scroll to find the folder I want to file them in. Does anyone else have this issue or know why the mail app isn’t suggesting the correct folders anymore? It’s made email filing a lot more of a hassle.

With the current version 17.2.1, now works.

Sure would be nice if someone from Apple would drop in on this thread. This loss of functionality sure costs a lot of time considering the mountains of email I'm sure most of us get.

This is very frustrating. there have been suggestions about which move icon to install on the tool bar. doesn't matter. neither works. is it still broken for everyone?

Fixed for me on iPhone after updating to iOS 17.1, and on Mac after updating to Sonoma 14.1.

My old folder suggestions are back! Yay, thanks Apple.

Same here. I updated my iPhone 13 mini and same thing.

I’ve been “training” Mail for the last week by manually moving at least 50 messages, and it should have picked up something by now.

Me too. On iPhone since 17, and also on Mac since Sonoma. No suggestions, and system not learning my choices after several weeks.
