I can't add a new reminder. When I try to, I am taken to another page. I was trying to add a reminder to buy a birthday card today for later in the week. The links in the app seem to take me to the wrong places.

No, you generally aren't. If a mail account goes wrong, the fastest, easiest way to fix it is to delete it and re-add it. Unless you're using some obscure private email server, all you need to know is your email address and password. They rest will be filled automatically.

Are you using the Mac's built-in Mail application? Or something else. If you're using Mail, start here:

I am using Mail. I don't know what name I use on the server is as I don't know what or where the server is.
Have you tried a restart?
I used my brain to remember to get the card, so that's that. But now Mail is broken.
Can you describe the exact sequence of actions you're taking? Adding a reminder to Reminders doesn't involve any links. All you need to do is click on the "+" in the upper right corner.

Mail can't seem to send emails regardless of which email address I choose to send from.
We are required to know all this "under the bonnet" stuff when, with paper mail, all we need is a sheet of paper, a pen, an envelope and a stamp. I'm going to stock up on stationery and stamps.
