Apple Watch 8 sleep tracking issues

Hey, my new Apple Watch seems to have stopped tracking my sleep. I have tried all of the suggestions I’ve come across and made sure it is fully charged, permissions are turned on, sleep schedule is on.

The night before last I manually entered the time I was in bed, because it wasn’t recorded, and no sleep data was available – it’s all showing as “in bed” time with no sleep stages.

Last night I again received no sleep data.

I am disappointed because this is one of the features that I find most valuable. I never had a problem with my Fitbit for years, but two out of seven nights with my new Apple Watch simply has no data for sleep.

Anyone else experienced this?

What did you do to fix it?

Hey Col0517,

You completed great steps in trying to resolve this. In your troubleshooting, did you also ensure both your Apple Watch and paired iPhone are updated? Updates help by installing bug fixes and security updates. If an update is needed, be sure to back up first:

Thank you, I did do this! Something I realized after the fact is, although I had a sleep schedule set for weekdays, I did not have one set for the weekends. I didn’t realize that I needed to have a sleep schedule set in order for the Apple Watch to track my sleep. I was thinking that it functions similar to the Fitbit I had used for years where the device automatically detects sleeping, without the user needing to set a schedule. Honestly, I do find the Fitbit to be a better device to track sleeping for several reasons. I will be searching for a third-party app to use with my Apple Watch that functions similar to the Fitbit sleep tracking. Thank you for your answer.
