It's said by Thomann that if I play a tune on the piano there will be 'MIDI signals' into the MacBook. Do I dare to try that? Will there be a file generated?

There are many different types of USB ports:
I would imagine the question about a file's creation is in the device's accompanying literature. Or you might ask the maker, it is after all their product not an Apple device.
