All of the mail apps available for iPad have mail preview pane. There seems to be now way of removing it. I prefer to see the list of inbox messages with the "mailbox" bar on the left like the old days. Anyone know of aail app that still has this option?

Oh, so “Preview Pane” means this view described in “Preview an email and a list of options“ here that requires an overt action to invoke?

Using Apple’s Mail app, on an iPhone or iPad, compare the Inbox views with these two different settings. They certainly differ.
Nope. It can be done on macbook or desktop but not iPhone or pad I checked other apps and browsers. Come to find out, Gmail on Safari allows the original Gmail set up without the preview. So it is not the app, just Gmail from the chrome browser. A little funky because apple's bookmarks don't condense to icons, but overall better than 3/4 of a screen devoted to an individual email and no real way of seeing more than part of the subject lines in the left margin. So resolution so far is use Safari browser amd then mail.google.com
What about Apple’s Mail app after doing:
Settings > Mail > Preview = “none”?
Those are only for how many lines of the emails should be shown in the mailbox wimdo. Doesn't affect the preview pane.
