create a automator script to look for and mark corupt image files on macos

I am looking for a way to look through a catalog of images (not Photos Library) to locate, tag corrupt files, and if possible try to fix them.


is this at all possible.

No. There is no action in Automator (or Shortcuts for that matter) that can determine if an image file is corrupt. That is a function of the application that would detect the corruption and would likely open a dialog about it, if it didn't outright crash the application. That behavior cannot be managed by the aforementioned tools.
