My kid has an AppleID that has been using @icloud.com email for years. Now, she has a new non-icloud address. I would like to use her new email address for AppleID.
When I go to change it the warning comes up that parental consent will be required, asks me to enter new address and password, but then gives an error: "The Apple ID cannot be updated for the account at this time."
Does anyone has an idea what might be wrong?
After talking to Apple Support, they explained that you cannot change the Apple ID email on accounts that are using the "@icloud.com" email. Once you setup an Apple ID with the "@icloud.com" email you cannot switch to 3rd party email.

says:
If "you've attempted to sign in to too many accounts on that device or web
browser within a short period of time. You need to wait at least 24
hours before you attempt to sign in again on that device or web browser.
Some Apple ID settings and features work differently for children under age of 13:

Unfortunately, this is not related to my problem. I can sign in without any problems.
The issue is that I cannot change the email used for my kid's Apple ID account.
I've read that, but after step 4 I get the error: "The Apple ID cannot be updated for the account at this time."
Might be relevant mention that I am trying to replace old @icloud.com address with a third-party email address - but I keep getting an error.
I've also checked if I received a verification code from step 5 - I haven't.
On my device, I can only change the password for the child's account.
I tried turning off all restrictions on the account (like account changes, etc.), but I am still getting "The Apple ID cannot be updated for the account at this time."
