Messages On Mac, ability to send "#images" (GIF's) disappeared after MacOS Ventura 13.5.2 update.

After running the update to MacOS Ventura 13.5.2 update on my MacBook Pro the ability to send #images (GIF's) disappeared from Messages... the only options I now have to send in addition to text (see screen shot) are "Photos", "Memoji Stickers", and "Message Effects"... in fact, now that I look at it all other options are missing too like sending music links or "Stickers"... all the things that were there before. Is there something that I'm missing? It was there yesterday...

Hello Ringo_O86, I tried all of the things you noted and that did not help. In addition, after updating updating to 16.6.1 on my iPhone 11 Pro, the exact same thing happened. While there are more choices available as far as other apps shown, there no longer is the #images (GIFS) App there either. To further this issue my wife just ran the same updates on her iPhone and iPad and that app is missing there as well! Was this part of a new Apple OS change across devices where this component of the Message App has been removed?

Hey there spodonahue,

Taking a look at Send and save GIFs on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch,

"If #images is missing from app drawer

Make sure that the #images app is enabled:

  1. From the app drawer, swipe left, then tap more icon.
  2. Tap Edit, then tap add icon to add the #images app.

Make sure that your keyboard is set to a supported language and region. Go to Settings > General and tap Language & Region.

The #images app is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, India, Singapore, Philippines, and Japan."

We hope this helps.

Have a good one!

Hi spodonahue,

We understand you're seeing some trouble with Messages and we want to help.

You can try starting to safe mode to see if you notice this same behavior:

Use safe mode on your Mac

If the issue persists after trying safe mode, we recommend setting up a test user account:

Add a user or group on Mac

Let us know if that helps.

Correct, we have both done all of these things before posting and checked to make sure the regional/language settings are correct (US English). The #images does NOT appear as an option to load in the “…” side menu option either. The problem persists across all devices. Does this mean that the setting is controlled across iCloud? (Therefore, if it goes down in one device it goes down in all?)
