I would avoid the 2019 model completely. I have personally seen more issues with the 2019 models (especially the 16" model) and seen more reports on these forums with issues for them. I support thousands of Apple laptops for our organization...most of them are 2017 models, with a handful of 2019 models, but I've seen a lot more major issues with the 2019 models than any other model. I would definitely invest in an Apple Silicon Mac since that is the future.
Just make sure you research the Apple Silicon Mac to make sure you get a model which will meet your needs (enough memory, large enough SSD for storage, and enough USB-C ports). Also if you need multiple external displays, then make sure the laptop supports more than one external display (some do not). Keep in mind that you cannot upgrade the memory or SSD after purchase on any 2016+ Apple laptop so make sure to get one with sufficient resources.
Also, when you get a Mac, make sure you always have frequent and regular backups of your computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data. With USB-C model Macs, there are a lot of new ways to permanently lose access to your data due to all the new security features & hardware features in addition to all of the classic ways to lose access to data on older systems.
