Images sporadically corrupt on safari

Having an issue since a few months now, where images either won't load or display as a screwed up stretched/scraped mess of colors, not sure how to describe it but let's call it 'corrupt' here. I'll be browsing say some shopping site and some images for a product will be fine, and others will be corrupt. A news site - some images fine, some corrupt. Look again and the image that was fine is now corrupt. Try printing a page and an image that was fine is now corrupt. Refresh and it's fine. Refresh or scroll around, then corrupt again. It seems to happen randomly to images but occurs consistently/persistently. It definitely started happening at some point in time a few months ago.

This is a Mac running Big Sur 11.7.9, Safari Version 16.6 (16615.3.12.11.3, 16615)

Here is an example - the image is fine, refresh page a few times and it displays corrupt
