How to change Caption distance photo relative to text

Q. from 2020 by info_cmug

I always create my club magazine in Pages in page layout mode. That works very well.

There is often a text under the photos. I used to do that with a separate text frame.

I now want to use the 'caption' function. Basically that works nicely and well. But downside is that I can't find how to adjust the distance between image and caption.

Who knows where to find that option?

Thank you for any tip. (From The Netherlands )

Some distance can be changed by changing the "text inset" to 0, default is 4.

All you can do with the integrated image and caption container is visit the Layout tab and increase the Text Inset value (e.g 25 pt). That enlarges the caption box with the result that the text caption moves further down from the image, but also now increases the document footprint for the image/caption content.

Alternatively to the Text Inset value, you can choose text options panel ⚙⌄ and play with negative baseline shift values.

There is no detaching the caption box from the image if you choose to use the built-in caption feature.
