iPhone stopped counting steps when paired with iWatch

When I purchased and paired the iWatch with my iPhone, the fitness app stopped counting my steps when I'm just carrying my phone. The pedometer app still counts my steps, but not the fitness app. I only wear my watch when I go to the gym, so I how can I get the Fitness app to start showing steps again when I'm not wearing the watch?

I have exactly the same problem. Bought an Apple Watch series 9 yesterday and already reinstalled the watch for the third time due to problems between my Iphone 13 Pro Max and the watch.

ONLY the clock register steps. Health and Fitness apps in the phone stopped counting steps due to the pairing.

There is no use to have a watch that totally owns the phone, even when I don’t wear it on my wrist.

Is there any published solution to this annoying malfunctioning?

Jenkijar, did you get a resolution to this problem?
