can a HomePod Mini be used as the source for an intercom to someone's iPhone?

We like our 93 year old dad to be able to say hey Siri intercom my son or a person's name regardless if they ar home or not or something like it.

Intercom messages can be sent from the Home app on a phone to any HomePods in your Home, or to send a message from one HomePod to another. They cannot be sent to an iPhone.
