MacBook Pro 2017 13 inch USB 3.1 Bus missing

I connect a USB hub trying to use the HDMI display but doesn't work. I check and can only see USB 3.0 Bus under System information. Checked the serial number and should have USB 3.1 Gen 2. Is there a way to get the USB 3.1 reinstall?

Thanks for you assistance in advance!

If the hub is 3.0 it is backwards compatible. If that is the case get a different hub if you are determined to get 3.1

You can remove the hub and check your System Information hardware for 3.1

After I removed the hub, I could only see USB 3.0 under the System Information, hence was searching on how to install the USB 3.1 driver if possible.

I trust after you removed the hub you did a reboot—which will re-establish port definition.

I am seeing both two and four thunderbolt port 2017 13" MBP showing 3.1 USB

You can do a firmware install on new T2 chip Macs but not your 2017 reference:

Revive or restore an Intel-based Mac using Apple Configurator - Apple Support

2017 you would reinstall the macOS for firmware

from Terminal you can see model identifier and Firmware version if in doubt:

/usr/sbin/system_profiler SPHardwareDataType

Yes, I did a reboot but still only shows the USB 3.0.
System Firmware Version: 515.0.0.0.0
Any thoughts on how to install the USB 3.1 manually?

As mentioned above T1 chip MBP EFI is updated with macOS

With Mac is connected to the internet during installation/re-installation, the macOS installer will check whether it needs any EFI or similar updates, and will download and install them then.

Running Ventura—I would contact Apple for your MacBookPro14,1

Old references for checking EFI — you can try manually launching...

I think for that model of Mac you should see USB 3.1 Gen 2.

How did you obtain this Mac and where?

Can you do this please: under the Apple menu upper left of screen, please select About This Mac and provide a screenshot of what it shows with the serial number blacked out or simply crop the image to remove the serial number.

Then click More Info and scroll down to click on System Report, then select USB under Hardware. Does it show both USB 3.0 and USB 3.1, or just one of those -- if so, which one? (I think you have already done this System Report, but just checking)
