Charging Apple products in Switzerland

I was reading in an old post here that you could use the European plugs in Switzerland but I seam to remember I had problems with the rounded European plugs last time I travelled there.

I read on a Swiss site that The Swiss plugin in comparison is more of a narrow Type J plug with tapered ends and the earth is also a pin.

Anyone know which is correct?

You can use any plug compatible with the outlets in Switzerland for your iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro. In Switzerland, the standard voltage is 230V and the frequency is 50Hz.01 Type J outlets are found almost exclusively in Switzerland and Lichtenstein. The spacing between the holes is slightly different, meaning devices with the Brazilian plug type won't fit. Switzerland uses two different standards of wall outlets (types J and C), and using a power charger like a multiple USB port charger with swappable plugs such as a 4 port USB travel charger will ensure that you are covered for type C. Switzerland has its own standard plug/socket system, and the plug is similar to C, except that it has the addition of a grounding pin.

We were told that the standard European plug "should work" in most places in Switzerland....and some might.....but we learned the hard way with our "compatible" plugs that "should" have worked that Switzerland had to be different, especially with newer construction hotels.

They use what is known as a Type J Plug. It looks like this:

Luckily, the hotel had some on hand. Amazon has them, or you can pay twice as much at the airport shops.
