Migration Assistant doesn't load

I just got this new MacBook Air M1 and am trying to use the Migration Assistant, but even though the Time Machine backup is connected, it just keeps looking for other sources. This has been for like 20 minutes. What can I do?

However, I am receiving a "the selected source cannot be used for migration. This source contains a newer release of macOS. Data Migration hanging during Migration I have an Intel mac (2017) that (long story short) that I have done a clean install to Ventura. Now, I'm trying to use Migration to transfer files from Time Machine on an external Passport drive. I chose not to migrate applications. Everything goes smoothly until it gets to Updating Your System Settings. Then it gets stuck. I let it sit like that for 36 hours, and it never completed migration. I've tried several times, and the same thing happens. Help!

I had a same error when I upgraded to M2 from previous Mac.

Kindly follow the below article to trouble shoot errors when using Migration Assistant.
