Safari Version 16.6 (18615.3.12.11.2) Instability Report on MacBook Air M2 OS Ventura Version 13.5.1

Dear Apple Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to report a concerning issue that I have been experiencing with Safari version 16.6 (18615.3.12.11.2) on my MacBook Air M2 running OS Ventura version 13.5.1. I am a dedicated user of Safari and have always appreciated its sleek design and user-friendly interface. However, the recent instability of the browser has been quite disappointing and is hindering my overall experience.

The primary issue I'm facing is that Safari frequently freezes, making it challenging to use the browser efficiently. This is particularly disheartening for me as I hold a genuine fondness for Safari and would like to continue using it without disruptions. I value its aesthetics and interface, but the consistent freezes have become a considerable obstacle.

In my efforts to resolve this problem, I have attempted basic troubleshooting steps. I have cleared the cache, deleted cookies, and erased browsing history, hoping that these actions might mitigate the instability issues. However, despite these efforts, the freezes persist, often occurring after just a few hours of usage. It's frustrating to need to repeat these steps daily, as they should not be necessary for a smooth browsing experience.

Furthermore, I have also considered the possibility that third-party extensions might be contributing to the instability. To investigate this, I disabled my only extension, an ad blocker. Surprisingly, even with the extension deactivated, the freezing issue continued to persist. This observation suggests that the instability may not be solely attributed to the extension.

Additionally, I've noticed that Safari tends to freeze when attempting to interact with media content, such as audio files. This is particularly concerning as I frequently engage with media on the web for both work and leisure purposes. These freezes hinder my ability to enjoy a seamless multimedia experience and create a significant disruption in my workflow.

As a dedicated Apple user and enthusiast, I am hopeful that these issues can be addressed and resolved. I am more than willing to provide any additional information or data that might assist your team in diagnosing and rectifying the problem. I understand that software issues can arise, but I believe that the strength of Apple's commitment to quality will lead to a swift resolution.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I eagerly anticipate a solution that will restore the stability and functionality of Safari, allowing me to continue using it with the same level of satisfaction that I have always enjoyed.

Best regards,

FYI Update: Safari 17.0 released Sep 26

Safari 17 introduces new features, even faster performance, and improved security.

       • Profiles keep your browsing separate for topics like work and personal, separating your history, cookies, extensions, Tab Groups, and Favorites

       • Enhanced Private Browsing locks your private browsing windows when you’re not using them, blocks known trackers from loading, and removes identifying tracking from URLs

       • Streamlined search offers more relevant, faster, and easier-to-read results

       • Multiple tab selection allows you to select multiple tabs at once and move them around the tab bar or create a Tab Group

Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices.

I am having problems with text on pages not loading when I visit/revisit, ie youtube, newspapers etc. I must restart the browser continuously. I too love safari, so I would very much like to continue using it.

I have done a OnyX cleaning with all the trimmings and deleted history and cookies.. I have toggled all of the preferences and I have deleted files in the safari folder regarding history etc.

I am also having a problem with Safari Version 16.6 (18615.3.12.11.2). Ever since it updated to this version, I cannot click on links which includes pressing a login button for sites.

In fact, I could not get to this link in Safari and had to use Firefox instead.

It must be Safari because other browsers work fine including in a virtual machine.

Although completely unrelated, I have also found serious bugs with the updates to Apple TV 4K. When trying to use an airplay device, it will inexplicably stop and I have to restart the ATV as I have no sound.

I regret updating now. I should have waited although the Safari thing was part of their "security" updates.

Forgot to mention. This is on an Intel iMac with a 4.2 quad-core CPU and 32 GB of memory.
