SD card reader on MBPro M2 Max damages SD cards

I have now established that the SD reader on my new MacBook Pro M2 Max (Ventura 15.3.1) consistently damages SD cards. Upon the initial insertion, the card is read correctly and all its files are accessible. Once ejected and reinserted, the car becomes unreadable and I am prompted to format it. I have tested this behavior with 20 different SD cards of various capacities made by SanDisk, Lexar, and Sony. Running the DiskUtility on the cards finds no errors but if I try to mount the card I receive the dreaded "com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error." Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas what may cause it and how to fix it?

I am not sure how else to explain it. I was hoping that the video would help. The main point is that inserting an SD card into my MacBook's card reader damages it and causes the loss of all data on it. SD cards are indeed to be used mostly in cameras and other devices and that's how I use them. But I need to be able to transfer the photos to the computer, hence the need to have a reliable way of doing so.

The reader has no moving parts so pretty much any way a card can be damaged is by misalignment upon inserting. It needs to go straight in and straight out.

The little "prongs" in the slot that contact the card are easily bent.

We abandoned card usage on Macs because of the problem like yours, poor reliability, dismally slow transfers and etc. We now use a pair of portable 250 GB SSDs

There is nothing mechanical that happens to the card. It is the MacOS that destroys every SD card that is inserted into the reader. If the card is accessed by the OS, its file structure is immediately damaged and on the subsequent re-insertion I am prompted to initialize the card. The only way that I can prevent it from happening is to lock the card before inserting it into the computer. However, this does not happen if I use a 3rd party external SD card reader.
