Sent emails appearing in inbox

I have an ipad mini. For the past several months i notice that emails i had sent are appearing in my inbox! These are emails that the recipient did not answer. I just spent almost an hour with Apple support and they claim ignorance of the problem. It only happens on my ipad mini, even though i can also access my email on my desktop. Has anyone found a solution specific to the mini?

I dont think that is the problem since not all the emails i have sent do this. The only sent emails that appear in my inbox are ones where i had asked a question of the recipient and they had not answered me. It is totally bizarre…
