Magic Mouse moves erratically

My Apple Magic Mouse has started behaving erratically- it will not go where it's pointed and often takes moving all around to get it go move at all. Battery is full and I have forgotten it and re-discovered it in Bluetooth many times to no avail. Any known causes or fixes?
