Setting up a new right out of the box never used before Apple Watch. Was then forced to update to latest OS (1.5 hours gone). When I go to pair the watch it pulls a completely incorrect email address up as my Apple ID (one never associated with any Apple ID I have ever used, as I only have ever used one). There is no way to get it to use the actual Apple ID on my iphone. How do I correct this problem?

The 4th Apple support person solved the issue - got to Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive -> Start New Conversation From -> and then select the actual phone number associated with the phone. It pulled the "Apple ID" information from the lists of email addresses on this list, and one of them was @gmail.com. Even after I deleted that email account (prior to contacting support) it was persistent in using address it already had pulled. Once I switched to the number in this menu, it correctly pulled the email address actually associated with my Apple ID. Things went smoothly from their other than AT&T not enabling the Apple Watch as yet ("account needs manual review").

When answering I have to make assumptions such as assuming your iphone imessage and facetime is not totally messed up to start with.


Also an email "never associated with any Apple ID" suggests you don't know that email address. That rings alarm bells.


If your phone was running correctly and set up and your problem description accurate then my diagnosis would have been far more likely.
