Macbook Pro M1 (2021) display not working, what can be the issue?

My display suddenly became dark and foggy. I could just see the lights moving around in the screen. I rebooted, but now I couldn't see the backlight, which changed brightness when I changed the buttons.

After closing the lid and opening a couple times, even that stopped and the display is fully black. For the past few weeks the hinge was getting tight. When the lid was open for a long time it took some force to move it.

I gave the device for diagnosis, but they said they'll check for liquid damage. If not, it'll be covered under warranty.

Any time liquid was in contact was when I used a cloth with liquid cleaner to clean the screen. I made sure to clean it dry properly, but is it possible a tiny bit entered through the plastic below the display and corroded something? I mean, what's the risk? (I sprayed on the cloth, but what's the chance anyways?)

I am too anxious to wait for the diagnosis to complete. Can you please provide some insight?

Hello, we have the same case. Same unit, same problem and they found corrosion inside my laptop despite me being careful. I never spilled anything on my laptop too. I found so many similar problems with the same unit but Apple gave them an exemption. Mine was voided just because of these minimal corrosions.

The examination by Apple will tell the tale.

Exactly what insight are you wanting? All of us could start guessing as to the exam outcome, but that would be fruitless. The expert has already told you his/her opinion which will be confirmed only with a hands-on evaluation. It may not be liquid damage ... nobody nows until the case is physically opened.

The only insight I can offer is related to warranty protection: if it's covered damage, Apple will pay. If Apple determines its user-caused damage you'll have to pay.
