Universal Control between Mac Studio and MacBook Pro (Intel) drops out randomly

I have a M1 Max Mac Studio (two 4k displays) and 2018 MacBook Pro (Intel), both updated to Ventura 13.5. When I'm at home I set up the two computers to extend the desktop using Universal Control so that I can exchange files and work between the two computers. However, it seems that since I updated to 13.5, Universal Control randomly drops out so that the connection between the two computer desktops no longer works. Sometimes I can regain the connection by toggling UC off and on again on both machines (the toggle is the top one in the Displays/Advanced dialog under "Link to Mac or iPad"). Is anyone else having this problem? I've tried restarting both Macs but it doesn't always work. Sometimes both Macs want to extend their desktops to my M1 iPad Pro, but since this problem started happening I usually keep that asleep.
