I can't get my Generation 3 IPod into DFU mode in order to restore and update

IPod will not go into DFU mode. I have held the start button and the volume minus key according to directions but the message says it had restarted and needs to be put in DFU mode again, which I am not able to do.

Windows, Windows 10
