My walkie talkie contact is “ unavailable “ when I know he’s available

I have a friend who is set up with the Apple Watch ultra walkie talkie. In the past it’s worked well. Now I can’t contact him ( it says he’s unavailable). I checked FaceTime on both of the iPhones and double checked the watch utilities settings for accessibility with “ tap to talk” set “ on”. We had it working after we shut bot watches down and both iPhones Now when I tried to reach him just now it says he’s “ unavailable “. Any suggestions?

iPhone 6, iOS 11

Hello Nomoreboxesagain,

If you haven't yet, removing the contact from the Walkie-Talkie app, and then re-inviting them can help out with this type of situation.

In the Walkie-Talkie app swipe left on their contact card and tap the 'X' delete button. Then, try inviting them again using the steps in the "How to add friends to the Walkie-Talkie app" section of this page: Use Walkie-Talkie on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

When re-adding the other person be sure they don't have Do Not Disturb/Focus or Theater Mode on as that will suppress the notifications.

Also check and see if each person's iPhone and Apple Watch is fully updated, as that'll ensure the latest fixes are applied:
