Wrong timezone for new Outlook calendar events on iPhone

I created a new calendar in the Outlook app on my Mac. All timezone settings are for Melb, Australia. When I open the same calendar on my iPhone and create an event, it appears to be displaying as normal. However when I open the same event in the Outlook app on my Mac, it says the event was created in Reykjavik, Iceland timezone! I don't have the issue if I create the event directly through the Outlook app or OWA, however I would prefer to create the events on my iPhone.

I am sharing this calendar with a number of people, so I'm concerned this will cause the events to display incorrectly for them.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you for replying! The Outlook timezone is set correctly though. It's only when I create an even using the iPhone Calendar app that it shows as Iceland timezone (even though the timezone on my phone is Australia). Hope that makes sense!

Having a very similar issue. Events on shared calendar are correct time zone in Outlook, Outlook dekstop, Outlook web, etc...

However, when looking at these events on Outlook App or Outlook desktop on iPhone, iPad, or MacOS, they are 1 hour off and indicated that they were created in Reykjavik. However if viewed in native iOS, padOS, or MacOS Calendar app they are correct.

I created an calendar event on the ipad which is synced with exchange.

1) IOS Ipad calendar shows the correct timezone for the event

2) Microsoft365.com (web based) shows the right timezone

3) Windows running Outlook 365 (Version 2402) show the right timezone

4) Outlook on ipad (latest version) shows incorrect timezone (UTC) for the event when the item is opened for editing

5) Mac running Outlook for Mac (using Version 16.83.2) shows the wrong timezone (UTC) for the event when opened for editing

6) Outlook on iphone (latest version) shows incorrect timezone (UTC) for the event when the item is opened for editing

Would seem that the IOS versions (Ipad, Iphone, MacOS) have a problem with the displaying the desirred timezone when the item is opened for editing.

Got the same exact issue on two differents Mac with the same user (with local timezone).

Look likes there is a bug with the summer time vs winter time with Outlook on macOS.

Some events are fine in OWA or Calendar but not in Outlook macOS.

I tried to reset Outlook with office-reset.com, reinstall, recreate account...no succes.

Is it an Apple or Microsoft issue ?

Ventura 13.5

What does that have to do with an incorrect time zone in Outlook?

Hi reme1,

It looks like you've already isolated the issue to Outlook, as your iPhone doesn't have the same issue.

We did find this page for Microsoft Outlook about the Calendar for Mac:

Microsoft Support - Set the time zone for a meeting or appointment in Outlook

If you need additional assistance, the above page should be able to help direct you for more help.

Take care!

I'm having the exact same issue with my Microsoft Outlook for Mac. If I add an event to my iPhone, when I look at the event in Outlook, it defaults to Reykjavik, Iceland. I have confirmed in the Outlook for Mac app that my default time zone is Eastern Time Zone and I've also confirmed that it is set to this same time zone in the web version of Outlook, my account, etc. This is definitely an issue between Outlook for Mac - Exchange Plan and the iPhone.

I am having a similar issue and have searched and searched for a solution, to no avail.

Whenever I create an event on my iPhone calendar app it is correctly created in my iPhone calendar app in EST time zone. However, when I open that event on my Mac in my synced Outlook calendar app it shows the event in UTC time zone.

  • This is the calendar setup I have had for 5+ years with zero issues with time zones syncing correctly. This issue just started happening a number of months ago.
  • I have a hotmail email address.
  • All apps and operating systems are updated with the most up to date software.
  • I have ensured that the time zone is set to EST on Hotmail, iCal/iPhone calendar, and outlook.com/Outlook app with time zone override turned on on all.

This issue does not occur the other way around - if I create an event on the Outlook calendar app on my Mac it's created in EST and also shows EST when I open it on my iPhone calendar app. It's only when the event is created on the iPhone calendar app, then opened on my Mac's Outlook app.

Creating the event on iPhone calendar...correct time zone displayed

Opening the created event on iPhone calendar...time zone displaying correctly

Opening created event in Outlook calendar app on Mac...time showing in UTC time zone

iPhone calendar app...correct time zone selecteed, with time zone override turned on...

Outlook settings on iPhone and Mac...

This is so frustrating. Any other troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated!
