I reset them after being unable to contact previous owner about removing them from their Apple ID, and it says that they can still track it under “find my” app. Is this true? I don’t want them to be able to see my location

After purchasing a pair of AirPods from EBay. I see they were still connected to the previous person’s Apple ID. I tried resetting them since I wasn’t able to get in contact with the seller. But, it still shows as trackable by the previous owner on “find my” and won’t allow me to track them. Am I being tracked by this seller now? I thought resetting them would allow me to not be tracked by “Find My”

Three things:

  1. In order to have any means to contact the original owner, that owner would need to enable "Lost Mode" on these AirPods, AND provide either their contact phone number and/or email address.
  2. Yes, the original owner can still track the location of these AirPods via the Find My service.
  3. Unless the original owner removes these AirPods from their Apple ID, they will be useless to you.

Chances are you will need to return them to eBay and get a full refund.
