How can I stop my Apple Watch 6 from pinging when fully charged post iOS 9?

After update to IOS 9 Apple Watch 6 is frequently ‘pinging’ when fully charged. Using original Apple charging device. Temporaly solution: silent mode during night, but should not be necessary! Face is still lighting up every now and then. Does anyone know other tips and tricks?

This happens to me too and it's making me so annoyed. Considering the number of complaints posted to the forums about this over the last couple years, it's pretty clear it's not the charging device.

My iPhone 7 with iOS 10.4 is also making this very annoying pinging when fully charged, and since I charge my iPhone overnight, it wakes me up until I remove it from the charger (charger is generic non-Apple replacement for damaged Apple charger). This did not happen with Apple charger… did Apple program this annoyance to preclude customers from using generic substitutes? And you wonder why Apple is being sued for monopolistic behaviors?

The chime is usually an indication your Apple Watch has detected the connection of the external charger. That suggests there might be a problem with your mains power adaptor and charging cable (magnetic puck) and it is certainly the first place I would check.

I suggest set your watch to charge earlier in the evening so you can observe what happens away from your bedside setup. You *should* see the watch charge to 100% then simply stop active charging and wait quietly on the charger, using external power to supply the watch. The only indication for this should be a single notification on the paired iPhone for completed charging. If the charger power is interrupted then restored it will chime when the power comes back. You can simulate this by disconnecting mains power to the adaptor, or unplugging the charging puck from the adaptor - then put it back to normal. However, it should not happen unless you touch something!

If there is a hardware defect like a problem cable in the charging accessories I would expect the problem to show during charging, not only after the watch reaches 100%.

The other possible checks - try with a different charging cable and magnetic puck if you have one. Try a different mains adaptor. Try a different wall socket. if the problem persists after all these have been checked and tested by substituting known good items, you might have a defect in your Apple Watch. This is unlikely, but if you suspect it is still a contender please contact Apple Support and arrange to get the watch examined and tested.

This thread seems to conflate two issues -- pinging, ongoing or not, when attached to a charger vs. pinging when fully charged. As a result, it seems to resolve neither.

My issue is that my Apple Watch9 (using an Apple charging device) wakes me up at 6:00 am even though "Charging Reminders" (under "Sleep" in the Watch app on my iPhone15) is set to "off." So, in response to Dobbski's suggestion that "that should do the trick," I'm truly sorry to say, "Yes, it should. No. It doesn't."

Does Apple ever read these posts? Or care? This is not a new issue and shouldn't be hard to resolve. I'd be quite willing for my watch never to ping. I'm not willing to wake up at 6:00 am because Apple doesn't care.

I tried "Don't use this Watch for Sleep." That didn't help. This morning my Watch9 woke me up at 6:00 am with three minutes of relentless chiming. Then, have ASSURED that I was awake and was informed that it was fully charged (even if I wasn't), it went back to sleep. After 10 minutes or so, I did as the same.

Based on lack of response/engagement from Apple it appears that the most reliable solution is a coordinated contact with a sledge hammer.

Can anyone confirm whether this issues occurs with USB-C based chargers &/or connections?

I have noticed that third party Lightning cables which my iPhone10 will refuse as unauthorized DO successfully work if I use a third party plug adapter that converts the standard USB to a USB-C. Evidently with a USB-C Apple is forced to adhere to the universal USB-C standard and can’t use proprietary communication traps to block 3rd Party interfaces.
