My Apple Watch Series 8 loses its settings when charging

Watch OS9.4

My series8 watch loses its settings when charging, requiring me to search and re-install them. Is there a way to save settings to a default mode?

That should not be happening. The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.

As a last resort, follow the above procedure for unpairing and pairing the watch, but do not restore the backup. Set the watch up as new instead. There should be no loss of Fitness data or Awards since those are stored on the paired iPhone, not the watch.

Thank you for your response to my problem. I have tried the first solution, and I haven't had the problem since. However, it wasn't a consistent problem, only intermittent. So, when I can get to it, I intend to try your second suggestion as a possible preventative measure.

Thank you again for your response, it is much appreciated and I will keep you posted.
