Hello vitofromcinisello,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you receive a kernel panic when using Presonus Studio One. We are happy to help.

We will work with you to isolate the cause should we determine that it’s not the macOS, then we will refer you to contact the developer of the Presonus Studio One.

Let’s try the steps here: If your Mac restarted because of a problem - Apple Support

"Check your software

Check your hardware

Shut down your Mac, then disconnect all peripheral devices (such as hard drives or printers) from your Mac. If you have a desktop Mac, make sure that only a display, keyboard, and mouse or trackpad remain connected.

Then turn on your Mac and use it for the amount of time that it would usually take for an unexpected restart to occur.

If disconnecting devices resolves the issue, isolate the issue to a specific device: Connect one device at a time, testing again after each connection, until the issue returns.

If disconnecting devices doesn't resolve the issue, use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac while your devices are disconnected.

If you continue to experience unexpected restarts, contact Apple Support."

We also recommend starting in safe mode to further isolate the cause: Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

"Apple silicon

1. Shut down your Mac.

2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.

3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”

4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor

1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.

2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.

3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window."

These steps may help. Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.

Hello vitofromcinisello,

Thank you for keeping us updated. Since this issue continues to occur, even after testing in safe mode, we'd like to recommend a couple of more helpful steps. Follow the steps below:

1.) Uninstall and reinstall the affect app. Remember to save any data that you've been working on prior to attempting this step. It's a great way to further isolate this issue.

2.) If that doesn't help, you're going to have to try refreshing things by performing a macOS reinstall. Steps can be found here: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

We hope these steps help you out. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Hi Vito,

I'm experiencing too (rare) KP when using Studio One 6.6.1

I suspect the issue is related to Kontakt 7.10.5 and my two-display setup.

So far, the KP occurred here in two occasions when dragging the K7 plug-in window from Dell to MacPro Retina.

I reinstalled MacOS Sonoma from scratch on this afternoon: time will tell if the issue rises again.

Did you solve your problem?
