See if you can create a new administrator account by restarting the Setup Assistant:
Be very careful to notice the spaces in those Terminal Commands.
Once you've done that the computer reboots and it's like the first time you used the machine, except all your data will still be there. Your old accounts are all safe. From there you just change all other account passwords in the account preferences!!
To BDAqua. From Dave regusrding old G3 Wall Street laptop - didn’t work it just goes to Password window every time. It does not respond at all to the keys being held down. And as I said I don’t know the password anymore. Any other advice to break in to this old laptop of mine would be deeply appreciated. This my friend.
Does the Optical still Work?

Hi. I just got to see this today as work has been hectic. I’m going to go through the house like a tornado looking for the disks. Barring finding them I’ll order. As far as optics I’m tech illiterate composited to you but I take it you mean does the screen work and I think the gray screen with the password display was always the first thing I always saw on her. I could be mistaken very easily though. I’ll take a photo or better a short video of it coming on with my iPhone and try to send it to you if this site permits it. Thanks again so much for your help my friend. Dave
Fingers crossed my friend! :)
Thank you and Bless you for responding. I just saw this and will try it tonight and let you know. Again thanks so much. Dave.
So what worked my friend?
