Photos slideshow is consistently longer than desired time

I'm creating a slideshow in Photos for a party, and I keep encountering the same issue: No matter whether I select Fit to Music or Custom (or even calculate number of seconds for each slide), the slideshow always ends up about 30 seconds longer than my music. I've selected three songs from my music library, and the slideshow includes two video clips that total 22 seconds. Fit to Music says it will be 14:29, and I've also tried setting Custom to 14:30. When I last did that and exported, it ended up at 14:57. What am I missing?

For additional detail: The slideshow was about 30 seconds longer than the music while I was working on it, so I found a different third song that was about 30 seconds longer. After swapping the song, the resulting slideshow was still 30 seconds longer than the music. And when I've set each slide other than the two video clips to play for less time, the slideshow still shows each slide at whatever length it seems to want:(

You’re not missing anything. Basic functions in the slideshows do not work. Haven’t for years and it’ll never be fixed.
